The Secretary of the Countess of Liverpool" Fund,' advised that owing to the severe ilness of Mrs Luke, ' Mayoress 'of Wellington, she could not Undertake her custo piary tour inconiicHion with'the Christmas Grift I'arcels this year, hut it was hoped the usual assist anee would be forthcoming. As the Ladies' Commit tee had decided on a special Shop Day, and the results of the day could be supple mented, if necessary from funds already in hand it was decided it would not therefore be necessary tj iuitiate any further effort. Several appreciative letters were received from soldiers i u camp thanking- the ladies for tin gifts of Cardigan jackets which had reached them, these gilts be ing particularly useful in the present cold snap. Letters oJ appreciation were also rend front the National Association oi French War Orphans and tlu National Headquarters of the Salvation Army, thanking tlie ladies for the splendid results ot the special Shop Day devoted m theini to these Funds. A warm acknowledgment tron a wounded returned soldier thank ing the Society for _ its proinpi response to his call for also came to hand. It was repoii ed that this case would nee< regular assistance for some j llll ' owing to the severe nature of tin injuries.
