Roll of Honour.
Cabled advice lias been received by Mr and Mrs It. Stansell, of Levin, that their oldest son, Private Jack A. Stansell, previously reported missing, lias now been reported killed in action in France on April _ 5. Private Stansell was born in Otaki and educated at tlie Terrace School, Wellington, and the Levin District High School. During his last year at the latter school he won two gold medals for the school's running championship. ..Previous to enlisting he was engaged by the Telegraph Department on reconstruction work in the Hutt Valley. He left Wellington on April 26, 1917, with the 24th Reinforcements of the Wellington Infantry Battalion, arriving at Sling Camp on his 21st birthday* and being there only a short time before leaving for France. Latest advices from him were to the effect that he had been attached to the Otago- 'Infantry Brigade' and later to the Engineers. Private Stansell was a grandson of Mr and Mrs J. 11. Stansell, senr., of Lyall Bay, and a nephew of the late Major Lionel Stansell, who also made the supreme sacrifice on a French battlefield.
