, Jesse Vallcry, a single man, 28 years of age, was game-shooting at Auckland on 'Monday with two Langgutli brothers when one. of tho latter fell, causing a cartridge to explode. The .shot badly fractured Vallcry's right leg. lie was admitted to hospital, and died three hours later. Vallcry was at the naval landings at Gallipoli, and was wounded at the second landing. Speaking at Christchurch on Saturday, the Hon. J. A. Hanan, in referring to remarks regarding what Germany was doing for the education of her people, said that notwithstanding the alleged defects and imperfections in New Zealand's national system of education, it had produced men—men with high ideals of honour, truth, and .-justice —and not murderers, brutes, and fiends such as were the products of the German system.
