A solicitor ia the Supremo Court at New Plymouth, on Monday sought to show (states the "Herald") that the use of bad language is quite as prevalent among Europeans as among Maoris, whoso use of it was complained of. "I suggest,'' said he, '' that the word by is almost a classical word, used throughout the whole length of the country.'' Ho also said it was impossible to go into a hotel bar without hearing this and other such words—in fact, he claimed that in some places about every second word was a swear word. His Honour (Sir Robert Stout) said he could not think so badly of the people of this country as that. The solicitor replied that the Chief Justice had not had the same opportunities of judging on this question as the speaker had. ■ »!! !■ AFTER INFLUENZA.
