Croquet.

The annual general meeting of the Levin Croquet Club was neld on the newly appointed (lay, Tuesday last in the School. There was a good attendance, twentyone members being present. Mrs IV. M. Clark, the President, occupied the chair. After confirming the minutes of the last extraordinary general meeting - , the annual report was read by the lion, secretary, Mrs Sidney' Halt. It stateil that the season had been one of keen sport and pleasant associations, Reference was made to the services of Mrs Kirk in instructing. Club members in the game and to the various trophies won during the year, a list of wliich has already been published. The President (Mrs Clark) gave a silver cup to be played for as a championship trophy, but owing- to the entries not being sufficient under the rules, it was not competed for and it was hoped it would be keenly competed for next season. Mr Pollock presented Levin and .the surrounding'clubs with a pair of star brooches, and Mesdames Kirk and Lancaster liad held them all the season against challenges bv the Palmerston and Foxton Clubs. Thanks were expressed to the bowlers, especially' the lion, secretary, Mr Melntyre, for their consideration and assistance, to tlie donors of trophies, and to the caretaker (Mr W. Brought on) for his courtesy and helpfulness. The Cljtb had raised £20 12s 'id for the Y.M.C.A. fund bymeans of an afternoon tea. It was decided to commence the financial year as from September next. Owing to the lateness of the afternoon, and i here being other business to transact it was decided to adjourn the meeting. As tlie hon. secretary would be absent from the town during the next two or ihree weeks, the meeting was adjourned sine die.
