Conscientious Objectors.
(To the Editort.
Sir,- Referring to the presence of the Conscientious Objectors in our midst, what greatly disturbs me is, what do they do at the Central Development. Farm? Dowti there are an army of experts all doing, no doubt, splendid work for the future progress of agriculture in 'the Dominion; further there are a fair number of youths learning theoretical farming, everyone of whom directly he arrives at the age of 20 enlists to fight his country's battles, and again there are expert farmers and labourers. If tliere is a full stair, and I believe there is, what work of national importance are the "C.O.'s" doing? Few, if any ot them are practical farmers, and surely the Government are not paving these —I don't know what you'd call 'ems soldier's pay and rations to teach thein to compete with our heroes when they return, as please God they will. Is there no real work they could be set to do ? It is certainly a farce to treat them as is now bein"- done and the sooner the country wakes up to the seriousness of the matter the better.
