EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING. An extraordinary general meeting of the Levin Croquet Club was held on the grounds on Tuesday afternoon last to discusis a proposal that the annual genera;] meeting be Iheld during the present momsh instead of in September next. The President of the Club, Mrs W. M. Clark, ocupied the chair, .mil there were also present, Mesdanies Sidney Hall, Ivirk, Reading, Nicholson, Holdaway, G. i". Brown, Keedwell, Pink, Porteous, and Thompson, -Misses Ilerrick and Whitaker. The President stated the business of the meeting and explained that the idea was one that, had been adopted •by a. Wellington club, which had: made this alteration las'; year. It was thought by the promoters of the aliera--;ion :hat if the "annua] meeting" were held in May (a.t the end of the season) instead of in September (the beginning of the season), members would be keener and alterations in .ihe rules could be altered or adjusted '.vili'ile they were fresh in mind. . Personally, the President said die was against the proposed change because the alteration should 'have been matte at last annual meeting and hot brought up hurriedly, as now proposed. To liaviei the annual meeting at . the end of a season was an unusual thing and she did not think it would be of any benefit to the Club. The Wellington dub had moved in the' matter at tlielir last annual meeting in September and, had done so simply as an experiment. That Club hadl also held their meeting on the closing day of the seatson wluen there would be a big muster of members, and the local Club had misled that opportunity by not moving earlier in the season. She asked the members to give the matter their serious thought and if the change was gofiig to benefit the Club, to vote for it. ■ Considerable discussion took iplaioe and it was proposed by Mrs Porteous, seconded, by Mrs Pink, That the annual general meeting be held on Tuesdny next, May 14th. Th/is was put to the meeting and was carried by a majority of thirteen. It wot* decided to advertise the meeting, the place to be Levin school and the to'irae 3 p.m. on Tuesday next. AH members are requested to attend the meeting at which thle annual report and, balance pheet will be presented and the election of officers take place.
