As the interest in Mr Hinmau's meetings al'; the Gospel Hall is still increasing, he lias decided to stay a few more days. He speaiks there to-nigh't audi Wednesday night at 7.30.
Mr George Larking, well-known in bowling and hoc-key ctrcles in Palmerston North, was entertained and received several presentations on the occasion of his leaving for Shannon where he will reside in future.
At lafst night's meeting of the Borough Council prices were received from two local builders for the repair of a cottage on a Borough reserve. The lir',cos were asked for privately after conisuY-ation between the Mayor and the Overseer, and when they came up for discurasion Or Par>kor protested against the procedure. He asked why tenders had not been publicly called and all local builders given an opportunity of tendering. The principle was a wrong one and might igive rise to comment. Cr Aitken agreed that tllie principle was not ltight, but the job was a verv small one and would not be chased by the builders, one of whom had been asked but had not given a price. Cr Parker also com plained that the specifications on which the prices were obtained, did not appear to be. very clear. The tender of Harvey and Co., £2(5, way- accepted-
