County Patriotic Association.
The monthly meeting of the County | Patriotic Association was held in ■!<.'- j vin yesterday. Presort;— The Mayor (in the chair) and Messrs C. S. Keeclwell and P. W. Goldsmith (Levin), J. M. Richards and S. A. Broadbelb (Iliaikara), Rev. C. Palmer, Mrs Gibson andl G. 'N. Stephenson (Shannon), C. Higginson (Koputaroa), L. St. George and F. Penn (Otak).), G. Catley (Te Horo) and R. J. Maclean (Paraparaumu). Mr O, S. Keedwell acted as secretary in the unavoidable absence of Mr F. P. Wialkley. Cheques for the following amounts were received witih tihaniks: £ Otaki PatricJiic Society 206 Shannon Patriotic Society 550 Ihakara-Koputaroa Soetiety 144 Chas. Blenkhorn 50 Levin Borough (Council 50 1 HoroWhenua County Council TOO Ladies' Catering Effort 205 Paraparaumu Society 200 It was decided to hold the annual meeting of th© Association at Levin on May 29The resignation of Mr D. Jt. Bathgate (Manakau), who wished tihe Association every success, was received witfti regret. The Te Horo Association wrote ting that Mr Eli Allen hiad been reelected! delegate. An appeal was received on behalf of the French War Orphans Fund and was strongly recommended to the variouß local societies.
