Mr P. \V. The Treasurer added that it . ivas profitable to the Council in •very way to secure the payment if rates before March 31 each year. Any steps taken to do iway with nrears of rates on that date were in the interests of economy in the working of the Goun■il's busines, and also of fairness 1 o ratepayers all round. It was decided to write off the sum of £G55 6s 7d, rates unpaid to 1914.
