A thrilling story of the underworld will form the centre-piece of to-night's programme at Farland's Theatre. To-morrow the great sporting melodrama "The Whip - ' will be screened twice at this- theatre, once at Jthe matinee in the afternoon, particulars of which are announced today, and once in the (evening. "The Whip" has been picturised on a. gigantic scale with thousands (pf people engaged in the various scenes, which include the most stupendous train wreck and the most thrilling motor accident ever seen in the pictures. Joe Kelly, bookmaker, ' 'lias it on Baron Sartoris and his consort i Mrs d'Aquila, who are guests of I Jud O v o Beverley, whose daughter, Diana., is loved by Hugh Brancaster. Kelly forges a cheque of Brancaster's, and uses the two villains as false accusers to convince the Beverleys that heis a worthless sort. Meantime, Harry Anson, a jockey in the employ of the Beverleys, and his sister Myrtle, know the secret that Ihe i Whip," a. very fast horse, will wm at Saratoga. Brancaster circumvents the villains m their attempt to wreck the train, saves the horse, which eventually en ables Brancaster to retrieve his fortune and also secure a wite. The introduction of the circus and vaudeville turns on Saturday night proved a big success and arrangements have been made tor a return visit next Saturday night.
