Mr and Mrs Kiifk's charming garden wore quite a festive and -animated appearance on Wednesday afternoon, the occasion being a garden party organised by Mesdames Kirk, J. Prouse and Goldsmith in aid of the Red Triangle Fund. The weather was perfect and the attendance fairly good. The promoters, however, counted upon the usual weekly half-holi-day when undoubtedly the attendance would have been muck larger. Mr Kirk had charge of the various competitions (which were free) including putting and progressive croquet. These were entered into with spirit and apparently were much elijoyed by the onlookers and those taking partMrs Hills won the former and Mrs Pink the latter competition. The treasure kunt was also very popular and caused muck merriment.l Mrs F. O. Smitk and Miss Sedcole kindly attended to tke afternoon tea- wkick was kanded round by the young ladies present. Mr and Mrs Dean sent along a cheque for £2 2s as their silver wedding gift. They decided thus to help the Red Triangle Fund instead of celebrating the anniversary ifi the usual way. Mr and Mrs Dean's generous gift was much appreciated and they were heai"tily congratulated upon arriving at this interesting period in their lives. The gate takings amounted to £0 3s fid, which will together with tke cheque be handkanded over free of deduction to tke Red Triangle Fund.
