The Trust

Sea that is England's, Hers from of old; Sea that has sheltered her, Sea that is part of her; There can be no help .for her, hope for her, heart for her, But in the Sea. Beat on her -white cliffs, Beat on her red cliffs, Beat ion the sides of her sullen grey battleships, Sea that is England's To have and to hold! When God first set his Britain here And ringed her with the sea, He' bade His people take good cheer And prosper strong and free "But so much have I given ye For such account to Me." And who can say we ever failed The trust so greatly given? We who've fought and gladly sailed On every sea 'neath heaven! Charting every narrow bay, And lighting Freedom's way!

Thero's no sea wind that ever blows But sighs some English name; No tideway in the world that flows But knew some English fame. In every sea —one mighty grave Lie those that England gave.

We've loved the sea—her willing swam Coquettish she, as ever; She'll shrug her shoulders at the pain And claim a life's endeavour; But gentleness she's always prized She'll not be Prussianised!

We fought the Dutchman and the Dane, Between us she" would stand! _ We met the naval might of bpam In battle for her hand; But courteous ever, when we me , Our wars left no regret.

With some a narrdV coast of sand Protects their seaward mile, God gave them other broader land, To us the sea-girl Isle To fend by sea from shame and lust, Nor dare T^st.^^
