The following resolution was passed at the annual meeting of the Wairarapa branch of the Teachers' Institute on Saturday:—"That, having in view the unprecedented importance of educational reform and progress, this gathering of teachers wishes to state that the most essential reforms are all of a practical character, viz.: (1) Better selected and more highly-trained teachers. (2) More improved classroom accommodation. (*-0 Smallci classes, the maximum being -10. " At a meeting of the llawke's Bay Automobile Association some lengthy discussions took jplace concerning the Napier speed limits., and it is probable that some representations will bo made to the Minister concerned in these matters to try and have a change effected. Regarding the different speed limits in various towns, one member related an instance where a Hawke's Bay motorist had at Palmerston North been cautioned by a policeman for travelling too fast. When lie <r o t to Wellington he kept to the allowance made in Palmerston North, with the result that he was censured by a policeman for travelling too slowly and blocking the traffic !
