Weraroa Temperance Society.
A meeting was at the Weraroa Church of' Christ Mission Mall last night for the purpose of forming an uudenomin&tioix&l Temperance Society. Mr Grinstead, of Palmerston, presided over .the meeting and spoke of the absolute necessity of educating the young people in total abstinence principles. At the conclusion of the address it was resolved to form a Temperance Society, and the following ladies and gentlemen were elected: President, Mr Sims ; secretary and treasurer, Mr Graham Dawson; pianist, Mr A. James; Committee, M-esdames Arthur -Tames and Storey, the Misses Hail, Mesdames Sims, Shirley, and Dawson, Messrs l! 1 red James, W. Watkins, T.. Dawson and G. Shirley. It was decided that the meetings be held fortnightly. Anyone accepting the pledge of total abstinence from intoxicating liquor is eligible for membership. A fine programme was presented and at the close refreshments were served. The following took part in the programme: Pianoforte solo, Elma Sims; recitation. Mavis Poad; recitation, Mr l ( red James; song, Mrs Eggelton; instrumental selection, by Jlilnia and Cecil Sims; song, by Mr MoiienOiead; song, Mr James; song, Miss Hall; recitation, Miss Hall; song, Mrs Kribbau; recitation, Hay Coleman; recitation, Mavis Coleman. .
