The Chrønicle. LEVIN. TUESDAY, JAN 29, 1918.

DESPITE the handicaps that Ik'l- - such undertakings in these days of war, (lie Horowlienua A. and P. Association can resonably expect that its annual show at Levin to-morrow will be crowned with success. Last year there was some suggestion that many of the shows should be abandoned on accouut of difficulties arising- from the labour shortage and the rail, wav restrictions. A. and P. Sim ws are of so much value in an educative sense that only the direst necessity should compel their abandonment. lu regard to the Levin Show the Committee's decision to hold it as usual this year lias been amply justified by the response of breeders and exhibitors, and neither in numbers or quality will to-morrow's event fall below its predecessors as a live stock exhibition. The Show will be found well worth a visit apart from the fact that it is entirely a patriotic venture on the financial side. Given fine weather there should be a record gathering in Levin to-morrow, to which distinction will be added by the 'presence of the Prime Minister i and probably the Minister of Ag- j riculture.

THE one disappointing feature of the Show has been the failure of the new Home Industries section which for some reason did not attract Hie ladies. Possibly the probable competitors are throwing _ all their energies into the patriotic catering effort this year. In that case the committee should certainly not: drop the innovation but should bring it forward another year when patriotic work will not perhaps make such heavy demands upon the time and efforts of the ladies. ,
