The Timaru Railway Servants' Society have passed a motion protesting against the methods of the Department in dismissing capable men who are giving every satisfaction, and at the same time advertising for men to join the service. The motion mentions instances of what are considered unreasonable dismissals. Mr M. J. Monk, a member of the Wellington Military Service Board: "I know a man who was absolutely given lip by the doctors >n account of tuberculosis, but he has been at the front two years, and it has cured him." "In America," said Professor Trueblood in a lecture in Wellington, "it has been made a erimc to sell liquor to a man in uniform. lam sorry to say that in Sydney many times drunken aoldieres accosted me in the street and asked for money to get back home.
