ONE WISE GERMAN.
Received, This Day 11.45 a.m. Amsterdam, Jan. IG. Dernburg, speaking at Frankfort, bitterly attacked the PanGermans. He ridiculed the demands for annexations and indemnities. There was not enough gold in the world to pay the cost of the war. Germany had no power, to compel payment of long dated instalments from 1 England and America. The value_ of the mineral producing district of Longwy and Briey in France 'was 150 millions, which was the cost of the war for twentyfive days. The idea of taking the colonies was equally illusory. German capital and outlay upon colonies before the war only produced five millions sterling yearly, which was merely the cost of the war for one day from six in the morning to eight at night. General disarmament was esi sential.; The cost of the air war alone was equal to the whole German army budget before the ] war. The cost of armaments on I the new scale was obviously unbearable.
