Wellington, Jan. 11. The Wellington Fanners' Cooperative Distributing Co., Ltd., report:

Business in the produce market has considerably increased since the holidays, large quantities of both fruit and vegetables being on offer- Fowl wheat is still short in supply and this position is not likely to be changed until local crops are available. Maize is retaining its late values with no prospect of decline. The outlook for the new season's grass seed crop is good but it is likely to be an expensive matter to clean on account of -so much undergrowth, and in consequence prime lines will realise high figures. The supply of bran is a little better a small consignment having arrived during the week. Pollard is almost unprocurable; and rice meal and rice pollards are being used extensively as substitutes. The supply of poultry is now very ■rhort. but the demand is fair. Pork is scarce and as there is a keen demand prices have again ad. vanced. Potatoes are very plentiful with values lower. The supply of cabbage is very much above local requirements thus making it hard to dispose of even at lowest quotations. Cauliflowers of excellent quality are now to b'.i had and fair prices are being obtained. Carrots are in fair supply with good prices ruling. The ■ price of onions has again declined. Lettuce is very plentiful with prices lower. French beans are in good supply. Parsnips are not so plentiful and figures have sliglitlv advanced. Swedes are m good supply and in view of other vegetables being plentiful, these ! are hard to dispose of. _ Tomatoes are a little scarce with good figures ruling. Celery is realising high prices. Green peas are more plentiful and prices have consequently declined. Rhubarb : s hrfrd to dispose of. Local apples are more plentiful and m consequence prices have considerably declined. Peas are still scarce but the demand for same is not. very great. Plums ate plentiful, peaches and apricots are hardly equal to the demand. QUOTATIONS. Cabbage Choice, Is to 2s Gd sack.
