The New Ynrlc Times London correspondent learns that Lord Beading will most probably accept the British Ambassadorship to Washington. Lord Reading was formerly Sir Rufus Isaacs, the eminent K.C., ;a,nd Lord Chief Justice of England. The New York newspapers state Mr Lloyd George has outlined the Allies' aims and the Central powers must make the "next move. The Allies will fight foi ■years rather than sacrifice their principles. Meanwhile _ the Allies and America must intensify their plans for the most vigorous prosecution of' the war. Madame Melba has made a successful tour of America. Stella Rower, a Melbournian, had an enthusiastic reception. Paris, Jan. I. An early conference of the Allied Premiers is likely.
