SEND-OFF AT KOPUTAROA.

The Koputaroa School held a very large gathering" last evening when a send-off was given to two popular local boys—Privates It. Dry and J. H. Doyle—who are shortly returning to camp. An excellent programme of music and dancing had been arranged and was greatly enjoyed. Songs were contributed by Messrs Flyger and Brouglvton, a recitation by Mr Stratton, a cakewalk by Messrs Broughton and Whiti and a nicely sung duet by Misses Best and Kilsby, accompanied by Mrs W. Kilsby. During the evening Mr S. Broadbelt made a short speech in which he referred to the good qualities of the departing soldiers and the respect in which they were held by their friends and acquaintances, all of whom wished them | well in the undertaking they were about to engage in. He mentioned the fact that I'rivate Doyle bad spent his boyhood in Koputiima and attended the school there. The gatherrnjr was brought to a close by the Ringing of "Auld Lang Syne, after an excellent supper had been disposed of.
