Wellington, Dec. 28- | The New Zealand Farmers' j Distributing Co., Ltd., report: j The extra demand caused by the j Christmas holiday is now over and ■ prices for some lines have slightily decreased. , This applies more | particularly 'to potatoes which have dropped several shillings. Very small supplies of fowl wheat are now on hand but a shipment is expected during tlie next few days. Late prices are still maintained. Maize is short in supply and prices are very firm. There is little doing with regard to oats and prices are unchanged. Grass seed is now being booked up for the autumn sowing and prices are likely to remain firm. Pollard and bran are still very scarce. Supplies of rice o:, t P°i" lard are not equalro the demand and values- are well maintained. Barley is short in supply. Large quantities of poultry were received for the Christmas sales and realised satisfactory prices. Pork is again in better demand and no doubt the market will be again normal with the New Year.

Vegetables.—Cabbage is slightly improved in value while a supply "of cauliflower is not quite as good and prices have advanced. Good lines of carrots meet a ready sale at satisfactory prices. Onions have declined in' value- lettuce is very plentiful and all good quality and prices are low. French beans are more plentiful and values have dropped. Beetroot and parsnips are 'tftill in good demand both realising satisfactory prices. Marrows meet with a ready sale and good prices are realised. The demand for swedes is good and prices are satisfactory. Green peas are in good demand ; with rather short supplies high prices are obtained. Rhubarb is still keeping up to its full value.

Fruit.—Cherries are now arriving' from Sydney and are meeting a ready sale. Apples are still realising high prices and supplies are short. Plums, apricots and peaclies are all realising good prices with a good demand for jam fruit. QUOTATIONS.
