TEST this Store as you would test a melon. Strike it anywhere to prove its service and its quality. The stocks are big and the varieties are charming. The Store is good all through. It is not perfect —according to our notion of perfection. But we are keeping it unquestionably BEST, and working I steadily towards perfection. Test the store for yourself NOW . lest it at any point. Your own experience will readily answer the question why so many people call t his MY STORE. | The accompanying photographs of CLARK'S STORE will give an idea of its steady growth dur- ■ j n g the past 23 years. The photo block shows five stages of improvement in the front, but the inteB rior and back improvements are not shown owing to want of printing space. 1 "When this store Avas-first opened—on September 22, 1894, a billiard room was utilised for the H purpose, the original building can be seen on the right hand corner of the photograph. The build--1 ing was'surrounded by logs and stumps, and civilisation had not effected any tangible progress at B that time in Levin. . § As business developed enlargements to the premises had to be effected. The original shop had a 1 floor space of 450 square feet. Later on a further 400 feet were added. Then a further 550 additi ional feet, together with a verandah, were found necessary, and subsequently the store was increased by 216 square feet. The fifth addition was the special store built for Men's and Boys' Mercery and Clothing, giving an extra floor space of 1120 square feet, making a total of 41G2 feet in all. The store is now practically ten times the size of the original building, lliis is certainly not an abnormal growth compared to many businesses in the larger centres; nevertheless, the progress of CLARK'S STORE indicates that the residents of Levin and district have given their loyal support to the local drapery establishmentLarge as the premises are the store is still handicapped for want of space. Since the war began, now over three year.? ago, the stock has gradually increased. Heavy purchases have been made of a (standard lines that will shortly be unprocurable, the selling-price of the stock now being well over £16 000. It is no exaggeration to say that there is no shop between Wellington and Palmerston that'is so well furnished with goodsiouglit at bed-rock prices, or that lias a better display of General Drapery, Mercery, and Clothing than will be found at CLARK'S STORE. A critical public have B been satisfied by the values received for their monetary outlay when purchasing at this store. We ■ invite all our old friends and customers to inspect our Christmas stocks, and shall be pleased to make the acquaintance of all new residents who have not already paid us a visit. W. M. CLARK WISHES ONE AND ALL A MERRY CH AND MAYTHE NEW YEAR BRING PEACE AND HAPPINESS EAR IH, A?vD THE SAFE RETURN OF OUR BRAYE MEN. FROM THE FRONT. CLARK'S, Levin's Best Store.
