Mr Ward Price, writing from the Italian front, says : r lhe British soldiers appreciate I'm- change from the mud of I 1 landers. The enemy opposite lis has not yet appeared in force or established positions on his side of the l'iave river. Mont Ello, which forms part of our sector, is a curiously shaped hogsback rising- to n thousand feet. There is another lull on the Asiago plateau btit General Conrad is reinforcing daily aiid men and guns are pouring down the line of the Trent to Primolano. Six divisions are concentrated on a six mile front. The enemy front line troops have to be relieved daily owing to the losses inflicted by the Italian machine guns and rifles, which are as important as shells in this mountain warfare.
