Some people cannot be convinced that there is anything in dreams (says Friday's "Wairnrapn Age"). A Musterton man, who had one recently is £-S0 better off to-day than he was on Tuosdav last through his belief in them. ITe had a dream, and the name of a horse, a starter in a hurdle race, was so impressed upon his mind when he awoke that he decided to back it whenever it started. lie waited for several months before the name of the horse appeared as an acceptor in a hurdle race. It started at the Ash hurst meeting. He hired a car and went to the races. Putting £5 on the horse, it returned him a dividend equal to the amount stated.
After the running of the St. Andrew's Handicap at Takapuna on Saturday an objection was lodged by Mr J. C. Gleeson, part owner of Colonel Soult, -against Uncle Ned being declared the winner owing to an alleged breach of Rule 7, part 2-I—that of failing to weigh-in with the breastplate. After hearing evidence the stewards decided to dismiss the protest. The evidence showed that Gray, rider of Uncle Ned, inadvertently dropped the breastplate as he was getting on the scales, and after being declared correct by the clerk of the scales, the breastplate was observed on the floor, and after r--"weighii:g with the breastplate lie was again declared weight. L. Morris, rider of .Tuanua. who fell in the Borough Handicap at Takapuna on Saturday, sprained an tinkle and sustained an injury to one of liis eyes which prevented liiui riding again during the afternoon. W. McKinnori. who received a fall off I'leuipotent in the Hurdles, received injuries which necessitated his removal to the hospital, while E. Reid, rider of Dunrobin, who fell in the Tiri Hurdles, sustained a badly broken collarbone, which necessitated his removal to the same insti-
