The top-priced yearling secured by Mr 11.' it. Campbell, of l'oukawa (for Mr G. D. Greenwood), at tbe thoroughbred sales at Christelmrch, is a full brother to Soldier's Chorus, Tannhauser, Cherubini, and Nordica. He was knocked down at .1025 guineas, the best price obtained for some years for a yearling in New Zealand. The highest sum ever paid in New Zealand for a yearling was when Mr S. 11. Gollan gave 2025 guineas for Mousquctaire (Nordenfeldt —Frailty), and the Australasian record is held by Orcus (Positane —Jacinth), who quitted at 3050 guineas. Both of these expensive youngsters turned out duffers. Sasanof and Sweet Corn are to be left in Sydney cor the summer and autumn meetings. The two-year-old filly by All Black from Lilvwhite will keep them company. The latter is said to be possessed of a great deal of pace.
