KAISER ANXIOUS FOR PALESTINE.

Received This Day, 9 15 a.m. Amsterdam, Js'ov. A German, wireless states that llnekensen confers wiiili the' Kaiser at Berlin tomorrow regarding possible aid to the Turks in Palestine, General Liman von Sanders, adviser to the Turks, ha,already conferred with the Kaiser. Hie latter shortly presides over a War Council to which Hindenburg and Ludendorff have been summoned*. Falkenhayn will probably retire. Says a writer in the "Post": —Jerusalem is almost within the grip of General Allenby, and the Turks arc naturally troubled at seeing this great religious stronghold about to join Bagdad. Their defeat has been so rapid, once it started, that there has been 110 time for them to rally. It is evident that they depended unduly upon the lines at Gaza. Perhaps the failure of General Murray to capture that position, and his successor's apparent acceptance of a slow trencli war misled the Turkish command into a belief that the British had given up offensive plans on this front. Had Allenby's drive been anticipated, the flank at Beersheba would never have been left as open as it was to a simple encircling manoeuvre; nor would a capable strategist like Falkenhayn have failed to put strong reserves behind the Wadi-Ghuz- ■ zeh. Neither of these precautions was taken, and the nearest Turkish reserves of importance seem to be at Aleppo— three hundred miles away. It is stated that Falkenhayn (who is necessarily anxious as to how far he can rob strength he is reserving for the Mesopotamian adventure) is sending reserves to southern Palestine. The enemy's resistance must be expected to increase; but General Allonby may be able to sweep clear a large area of the land west of the Jordon, of Samaria, as well as Judca, before he is held up.
