When making a mustard-plaster mi:-, with it the white of an egg; this will prevent tile plaster from causing a blister. Two potatoes grated together in a basin of warm water are excellent for washing delicate silk flannel, or woollen goods. "When making pastry a little lemonjuice beside the stove will prevent the smell of cooking from spreading through the house. If a piece of bread tied in a piece of muslin is dropped into water in which greens are being boiled it will absorb the unpleasant odour. Try moistening the rag with methylated spirits before dipping it in the brass paste. The spirit will remove all stains from the brass. If a piece of coarse muslin is placed at the bottom of a flower-pot before the plant is put in it will prevent the mould from washing away when the plant is watered. It is impossible to keep the sink from getting greasy at times. When this is the ease, scour down with some paraffin oil, and then wash it well with hot soda water. Finally rinse the sink down with plenty of cold water. To make a scrubbing mixture take lib each of soft soap, sand, and whiting, and put them in an old saucepan with a quart of water. Boil, stirring occasionally till thoroughly mixed. Store in an earthenware jar. To use, smear some of the mixture 011 the scrubbing brush, and use with very hot water.
