REV. VAL. TRIGGE.
RE-VISITS LEVIN,
A large gathering of people assembled in the Century Hall on Thursday night to meet the Rev. Val. Trigge. The meeting took the form of a Service of Praise, and the whole of those present entered heart and soul into the spirit of praise for the benefits received during the late mission. The Rev. Val. Trigge gave a stirring address from the words: "If ye then be risen with Christ, seekthosethings whichare above," appealing to the young christians to be sure that they were converted, and pray to be made strong in their walk with God. At the close of the address, the Rev. Mr Abbey, in a few very suitable words, on behalf of all those who had been blessed through the mission, addressed the Rev. Mr Trigge, expressing the love he had created in many hearts towards him,and explained that it was the desire of all that a token of that love should take a tangible form. It had been decided to prepare an autograph album, signed by those for whom he spoke —each signature was one of affection and thanks, and he had pleasure in handing the album to him, in the hope that it would be the means of stimulating him in his work. The album, of leather, contained the photo group of the " Old Folks at Home" and an inscription as follows: —" Presented to the Rev. Val. W. Trigge. —We, whose signatures are written in this book, desire to express our gratitude to God for the rich blessings received during the mission conducted by you in the Levin Methodist Church from August 26th to September 5, 1917- We pray that God may continue to crown your evangelistic labours with abundant success, and that the Holy Spirit will lead you to win many for Christ."
The Rev. Val. Trigge was so taken by surprise that the presentation quite overcame him. He, however, expressed his thanks for the very beautiful idea of the signature, and assured those who had inscribed in the album, and all those who had been blessed in the mission, that the memory of his work in Levin, and his stay amongst the people, would ever dwell in his heart, and never be forgotten.
The meeting terminated with the singing of " God be with you till we meet again " and the " Benediction."
