Though .Mr WittyV Bill for repealing the Act proroguing Parliament foiled to secure attention yesterday owing to a point of ordur that it involved financial appropriation, ill' YeJ:eh made another attempt, when tiie ExpeiLitioiiary Forces Voting Bill was under consideration in committee to-night. Mr Veiteh moved a verbal amendment the effect of which wotfkl be to repeal tho wliolo measure. the Premier immediately' raised tho familiar point of order that as this would bring a general election nearer it would cause increased expense and that only tho Government could introduce a iinaiiciaJ measure. . Mr Veiteh reminded the Brenner of his promi-e to have an election if a majority of the House desired it, urging him to test tlie ; question by allowing a vote on tiie amendment. Mr Massev : "If you bring me a list signed byi a majority of members of tbis House in favor of a general election this year, I'll do my best to bring it about."
