A political rumour in Wellington is that the Government contemplates a reduction to nineteen years of tlie minimum age for military service. Services of a special character will be conducted at the Salvation Army hall, Bath street, to-morrow (Sunday) by .Brigadier Toomber (officer in charge of the Central North Division). This being the "War Anniversary, tho meetings of the day will, bo, appropri-. ate and In tlie afternoon the brigadier will give an interesting talk on "The Salvation Army and the War." His Worship the Mayor of Levin will preside, and a representative gathering should be present. The night service will take the form of an devoted especially to New Zealand's fallen sons. There will be special music and singing. A Maori patriotic concert in aid of the Lady Liverpool and Mrs Pomare fundi for Maori soldiers will be given in Levin next Thtmday, at the King's Theatre, Levin. Full details will be advertised next Tuesday. Oh.au settlers are to hold a dance next Thursday in the Ohau Institute, in aid of the funds of the local Red Cross Branch. iDetails are set out by Advertisement. The fancy dress ball held in Levin last night attracted one hundred couples, and was a great success in all ways. A detailed report will appear n our next issue.
