A RUMOR SQUASHED.

"Is the statement or rumor correct that the Prime Minister will shortly leave New Zealand to take up the duties of the High Commissionership and that he will, be accompanied by Sir Joseph Ward, who will represent New Zealand on the Imperial Council?" was a question of which Mr J. Payne (Grey Lynn) gave notice yesterday to ask the Prime Minister.

"I may as well answer, that question at once," 6aid Mr Massey, "and my answer is that the statement or rumor is absolutely incorrect. Speaking £or myself, I have no desire to leave New Zealand, and I know that New Zeakind cannot do without me. (Loud laughter).
