The Government had no objection to adding a clause- to tlu "Washing-up" Bill this session, tlmt would join the new districts to Pal-
merston. ! Mr. Monk, chairman of the-.County Council stated that the average number ef patients treatxl at Otaki for 1913-1-1 was about 110. and 51 and 77 were the number of district patients treated in the Wellington hospital during that period. Mr Gardener considered the levy of £500 very moderate, considering the districts' valuation was C-J ,000,000. Mr Nash said the levy of £500 annually was quite reasonable, in view of the new buildings which had to be taken in hand. The chairman further stated that the building program contemplated by the board was an extensive one, rendered necessary by tho added requiienients of tho Palmerston district, as well as the adition of Otaki, Levin and Horowlienua.
The 'Borowhenua representatives considered the proposal privately, and offered £2000 in two years in lieu of £2500 in five years, as suggested. However, tho latter terms, as submitted by Palmerston, were finally accepted. ______
