Mr Gardener considered the levy of £500 very moderate, considering the districts' valuation was C-J ,000,000. Mr Nash said the levy of £500 annually was quite reasonable, in view of the new buildings which had to be taken in hand. The chairman further stated that the building program contemplated by the board was an extensive one, rendered necessary by tho added requiienients of tho Palmerston district, as well as the adition of Otaki, Levin and Horowlienua.
