The lalteraltions are now njparly. completed, and everything is wdll on the way for {he opening night. The electricians will commence work on Monday, and the new tip-up theatre seats will be installed by Wednesday next. The operating I room,} flrosm j whence pictures will be projected, is built on the outside of the theatre; quie a novel idea and a good precaution against risk of fire. The operating room is quite fireproof too. The opening night will be the 'Ist of August and the box plan already j|s open at Mr K. Aitken's. The plan, we hear, is filling rapidly; seats may be resetrred at the modeirate plan of on© shilling (no extra charge for booking). Quite a number of entries have ibeen received for the uamitng competition for the theatre, regarding which an advertisement appears on page 3.
