At the last meeting of the Borough Council the "Domain Bonrd asked for a subsidy to put the 'bnfitshcd', etc., in repair. The nin.yor advised the Tnntter ho shelved and if telle public did not like it "Let them Roiar" as they did about the lamps (laughter). "LET THEM HOAR!" "■Ob let's shelve the question for a little while," The worthy man advises with a smiki, "And we'll give the public a simplo lesson Of a 'do nothing' policy for a short - session," Then "Let them roar! Whatever we do it is over the same, Wo are back again at the same old game, If wo prune the trees, we're just two months late, If we leave them alone, they'll die sure as fate, So "Let them roar!" If we move the Lamps, thety weAi right enough If we let them alone, ah! we can't stiand bluff, If we metal our roads we haven't a plan Of the simplest contract; we spend •nil we can— So "Let tliem ronr!" Now some farmers' sons hnve come to our town: At our lako they smile, at our boats they frown, And worry the S'cot to the council to hie' For money, but the cautious head says "Not a dime! "We'll let them roar!" "Not in. dime! not a dime! !I vow we must wait, And leave the public to decide their fate; There are more pressing needs; 'tis 1 the spirit to show Economy now our bank 'balance is low.
