I have also to request you to be g khl enough to suggest: I.—The nimber of councillors to be elected exclusively of the mayor, which must not bo less than six or more than twelve. 2.—The name of a suitable person to be returning officer to conduct the first election of mayor and councillors. 3.—The name of a suitable (person to bo town 'clerk, and person to prepare district electors' roll. 4.—A suitable date for holding the first electon, and! <5—A suitable date, hour, and pliacc for holding the first meeting of tho council. •For your information T hive to add that tho appointment of town clerk is of course «, purely temporary one, and is made for the purpose of enabling him to preside «t tho fmst meeting of tho council until the mayor has taken tho declaration required by Section 27 of the Municipal Corporations Act. The council itself may. if it desires, confirm or annual the appointment of town clerk.
