A cablegram received from . Sydney this afternoon states tliat a batch of wounded men (including seven New Zealanders) arrived there this week. Attention is drawn to the -missionary meeting on Friday evening 'next in the Century Hail. From all accounts it certainly appears that the Rev. Gr. 'R. .Nicholson, innd the 'Solomon Islander, Daniel 1 Bula, are making their' meetings, very and ' it comes to us, that at all the gatherings organized for their tour, great meetings have been held, and much interest displayed. The native, Daniel Bula, speaks fluently, and tells a good story of the worfe being carried out' at Vella. Lavella, which' is interpretedl by the Rev. Nicholson. Owing to plans already laid, they will only address one [meeting in Levin, it is heartily, hoped that a full house will be there to welcome the Visitors to our town. Horowhenua County Council ie meditating the erection of one or more tollgates. in this .county, in- order to levy on .motor-cars a fair .share of the cost of asphalted main'roads that may bis put down .in the course of the next year or two. A report' on the coun r cil's discussion appeal's in another column of to-dny's issue. A special meeting oP the council to consider the proposal is mooted.
