Horowhenua County Patriotic Association
The monthly meeting of the Horowhenuia County' Patriotic Association, was .held ati the Council Chambers, Levin on Wednesday, June 6th. The delegates px-eteent were:—Messrs C. Blenkhom (chairman), P. W. Goldsmith (Levin),' Rev. Chas. Pialmer, G. X. Stephenson, Mrs T. F. Gibson (Shannon), J. H. Andrew, P. Simoos (iManakau), A. MeLeavey (Ohau), W. J. Howell, R J. McLean (Piaraparaumu), J. A. Austin, Tatton iFraser (iWiaikanae), J. M. Richards (Ihakara).
A letter of apology was received for the regretable absence of Messrs C. S. KeedweM (Levin), and L. St. Georgei (Ofoalri).
The minutes of the previous meeting were Tead and confirmed. Correspondence was read from the secretaries of the 'Wairarapa and Otngo Patriotic Societies touching upon various matters, and it was decided on the voices that the letters be received. Correspondence from the fiecertary .of the jPlaeikakariki ccntro was received, the matter of which is
being 'left in the hands of the secretary to deal with. It was proposed and carried that a telephone be installed' in the secretary's office. The chairman announced that the secretary had undertaken the secretarial duties of the association without remuneration, and he said it was "up to" the association to place such a facility (it his disposal. A resolution was carried arranging for an account in the Bank of iNew Zealand, Mr Pike, treasurer, being presefnt t« give necessiary assistance m this direction. Reports were given in by the various delegates as to progress iu regard to the coming gift stock sales to be held in June, the work carried out being most satisfactory. A full list of the gifts will be advertised in due course. Accounts amounting to £1 8s 8d were passed for payment and Mr R. J. McLean subsequently: undertook to defray costs of same. Mr Kimiibui'gh, oif the War Funds office, [the delegates at) length on several matters of interest to the association, and the meeting thanked Mr Kdnniburgh for his presence and help. A vote of thanks to the chairman 'brought the meeting to a close.
