Philosophy
* (By Walt Mason). Philosophy is not much good, unless; it helps, you saw your wood . witl patience year by year; unless you to bear : the weary load oT workdaj 'care without a sigh or tear. Philosot pliers of high renown at divers tames have handed down a lot of heavj books; they're loaded' down with maxims sage, but on their dull and dusij page the tired man • seldom loolke. Most all the sages who inscribe, -tjieii ; wisdom for the human tribe are riot in touch with men; at heavy taaks they "have not wrought; at ease they write their gems of thought, in a sequestered den. Philosophy is what we learn, as we ooir weekly stipends earn and! mate the wheels go round 1 ; examples set by some good men will teach us more than any plan, set forth in' books profound. We've ' learned that lioneety is best, that vice' will knock us galley west, • that industry is wise; we've, learned , that when; a task's on hand, it's wise to work to beat the band," with smiling lips and eyes. We leairn these things arid hundreds ■ more, not from the sage's musty lore, but in our sphere of toil'; this is philosophy that aids, that lifts our souls out from the shades arid makes the ikettle .boil.
