Ohau Revels
« (From an Ohau Correspondent). A most successful social gathering ras held at the above-named spot on he night of Thursday last, to celeirate the departure on promotion of ttiss Thompson, and to wish her suc:ess in her new sphere of activities. The function was conducted by the ichool committee, assisted by a num>er tof [residents who 'were specia riends of the guest of "the evening, die program was to consist (in the vords of Mr. J. D Brown, of Kuku), 'of dancing with songs between the lances, and, if things went slow, the ;ame of "uhu," which he said was r ery popular ot the Kuku, and wihich le would' teach to anyone who requir d assistance. Unfortunately for those vhose curiosity had been aroused, the leed for this mysterious game did not irise; for "all went merry as a mar■iage bell." Mr Glackin, of Ohau, on behalf of ,he committee and' people of the disirict presented Miss Thomson with a suit case and travelling-rug suitably nscribed and on behalf of the Weilepedhana family with a handsome netal tray. He made 'appropriate ■eferences to the benefit the district iad recived from Miss Thomson's muscal clients; and concluded a happy speenh by calling for cheers for her. rhere were given with musical honors. Songs and recitations were contribvted during the evening by Mrs Define, Miss Hanson, and Messrs Brown Woods, Henderson and Lister. • Miss Pink played for the d'ancing ind Miss Thomson played the accompaniments. A very enjoyable svening was spent and was concluded ay the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
