Our. wiorthy :• magistrate made a smart. capture a few. days ago, when lie .captured an escapee from the Weraroa Training Farm. Th'e lad, who had .only .beGn .is the institution for a few. days,, rode on top of a railway carriage, from ■ near Levin. The boy was put jnto the custody of Constable Greggan,- who was relieving at Otaki at th'e. time. : '

Mr Weston Barber, Of Te Horo, now in the aerial school .at Auckland, is becoming very fond -of flying, and has already had flights at some distance from the ground.

Mr O. Bouldj - for- some years game.farm keeper at Paraparaumu, but now. of Levin, is endeavoring to arouse interest in acclimatisation society affairs, and with this view has stirred the. Levin branch from', its lethargy, and now. intends to move that the Otajki a,nd Waikawa rivers be stocked with trout fry and. : yearlings. It is some time since the society liberated trout in the local rivers. Mr Bould also suggests - that; enthusiasts from Otaki and district should join the Levin society, failing this, to form a branch of their own.- - He has promised to do his best ..in the matter.

Arrangements are v being made whereby: Ohau, ■ Waikanae, and IParaparaumu- stations will in future have to do with on© tablet porter, and for these places to be worked from Otaki and Pae'kakariki. The new system has not meib with popularapproval among railway men working on the stretch. The new arrangement will be brougjht into operation about the beginning of June.

Mr W; J. Howell will visit Paekakarilrif with a view to forming a branch to work in conjunction' with the other branches of the! Horowhenua Patriotic Association, and thus help swell th® funds of that body. : •
