CLEARING SALE AT LEVIN
The !N'ew Zealand Loan arid 'Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, rc-
port liaving condiictcd a most successful sale of dairy stock, etc., on account of Mr Alex. Sutherland, at his farm, Arapaepae road, Levin. There wag ft very large attendance of buyers, and as the herd had a particularly good name, the sale went with a swing, and tip-top prices were realized. The highest price paid was £21 5s for a Shorthorn cow, and £14 10.9 was r.-acvcd for several grade Jersey heifers in calf. The whole herd of 21 cows (ncluding several empty and throe-quartered cows) made) the high nvc.'i'ic v of £14 103, which, we believe, to be a record for the district. AUTUMN CATIILE EAUR. Messrs Abraham and Willinms Ltd. rqporfc:—At our autumn cattle fair, held at Levin on Tuesday, cattle came forward in excess of advertised numbers, close on 1000 head being yarded. There was a representative attendance of! buyers from Masterton, IFeildmg, (Foxton., Pialmerston .North, IPahautanuii. The demand for grown cattle winis practically good and nearly all 'lines of th<jse changed hands at satisfactory 'prices. The demand for young cattle was not so keen and in most oases failed to rech vendors' -reserves which were on the high side. OTAKI SALE. - Messrs Abraham and "Williams Ltd. report:—At Otaki on Wednesday we had a .good yarding of sheep and a small entry of cattle, the majority of which changed hands at satisfactory prices. We quote: Woolly lambs 20s 3d to 245;" shorn lambs 17s 4d to 18a 3d; low conditioned s.m. ewes in lamb 265; small 2-tooth wethers 28s 6d; store ewes 16s; yearling steers £5 7s; fat cows £12 6s; weiiners £3. A pup sold on acooiunt oif the Red Cross Society realized £2 12s 6d.
