New Zealand Soldier's
Venture. ! * MR CLUTHA MACKENZIE'S "CHRONICLE."
"Chronicles cf the Now Z:r.!r.nd Expeditionary Force," edited by Clutha Mackenzie, are; for sale\in Levin and - elsewhere. The publication is a London one, but it may beccme established in Ntew Zealand, as the following letter to the edi tor of the Levin Chronicle (from Mr Arthur. Pearson, the well-known London publisher) will tiliow:—"Dear Sir,—l am sure that _ you Will know of the "Chronicles of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force," . editpd by Clutha Mackenzie, son of Sir Thomas Mackenzie, the High Commissioner. You will, also I feel sure, be familiar witli the fact that young Mackenzie, when only nineteen years of age, had his sight totally destroyed in Gallipoli. He has been living with mo ever since he. left hospital, and no one coukl have taken the Blow which has fallen upon him with a more manly and courageous spirit. . . . Mackenzie is leaving England for a trip to New Zealand this week (March 9tli) and should arrive a week or so after this letter does. I iam hoping that he will find it possible to establish the "Chronicles" in an altered form as a permanent weekly New Zealand newspaper, and! I am sure that your powerI fill assistance in this direction can l>e [relied on. Considering that lie had no journalistic experiences whatsver before he was blinded, and that lie lias edited the "Chronicles" with very scanty and entirely amateur assist- - ance, it has been. I think, a, most creditable product : on.— Arthur Pearsoil. Chairman Blind'xl 1 Soldiers' and Sailors' Care Committee.
