ELECTION OF A NEW COUNCIL. POLLING AT LEVIN. The biennial election of a borough council to conduct the affairs of Levin municipality took place , yesterday. The showery weather was against the likelihood of heav3* polling, but the 'holding of the Anziac Day memorial on the same day brought to town may burgesses who might not have ventured out in other circumstances, and a fair poll resulted. This and the need , for checking seventeen names on each paper, made the task of checking the votes a long and trying one. Tho record of the voting was announced by Mr B. R, Gardener, returning officer, shortly after 10.30 p.m. There were seventeen candidates for the nine vacant conncillorships and the voting resulted as follows:—
