The Chronicle LEVIN. THURSDAY, APRIL 19, 1917. MAYORAL AND MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.

ihs uncpprssd re-election of iMr Blenklioin to the office of mayor of Levin is fitting acknowledgement by the burgesses of the sense of appreciation which they feel for the services rendereel by the mayor during his arduous term of offica. The mayor and the citizens of Levin alike are to be congratulated on the result of this year's i'lcclion. Hie list cf nominations for the borough council shows that a widespread interest lias been aroused in the affairs of the municipality. Eighteen citizens have accepted nomination, and tlio list is thoroughly representative ot the community. There 6hould be no difficulty in securing from it a steady, lvl-'aHle :'iid progressive council that v.i'l reflect the views of the various sections of the community and yet conduct the borough affairs in an unsectionnl manner. Only four members oF the last council are seeking re-election; namely, Messrs A. IDcmpsey, M. Fosolln, J. "Ha'vev and John Robertson. Messrs H. B. Franco. E. M. Herrick, and S. Jones have decided to withdraw because of inability to devote sufficient time to the office. Dr (Daviea and ill'. T. G. Vincent, the other members of the retiring council,, are .absent on active service, and therefore not in a position to accept nomination. Several old councillors' names are included In the list of nominations: namely, (Messrs F-. S. Lancaster, D. S. .Mackenzie, and F. E. Parker, and in the untried men there are several citizens with good recommendations for public support by virtue of services rendered in other public and semi-public positions.
