The potato market in the south has weakened slightly since, .last report and supplies are coming to hand freely; local supplies of good quality are bringing satisfactory prices. Wheat is stationary and there has been no further change in maize. Large importations of. Australian oats have had the effect of "lowering the local market and there is not likely to be any change at present. Pollard is still very scarce and firm in price. Bran j3 offering freely. Eggs are scarce and in excellent demand, and the price has advanced 3d per dozen since last report. Poultry is" plentiful, and meets fair demand at good prices. There is an excellent demand for prime dressed pork. Linseed oil cake for stock feeding is selling well. Vegetables.—The holidays caused a spirited demand for all classes of vegetables. Cabbage, and cauliflower are scarce and values are high. Good lines of tFrench beans are selling well, but inferior lines are hard to quit. Lettuce is in fair supply and meets a good demand. Swedes are more plentiful, and consequently are lower. Pumpkins and marrows are in good supply/ and meet fair demand. Carrots and parsnips are realising good prices. Beetroot, spring onions, leeks and) celery are selling well. Fruit.—Dessert and cooking apples are , coming in freely, and bring satisfactory prices. Tomatoes are scarce, and prices are high. Choice dessert and cooking pears are in better demand, 'and prices have improved. A good sale for grapes is assured. Quinces are very plentiful, and meet faildemand at average rates. Wheat.—Good whole fowl 6s 9d to 6s lOd per bushel. Pollard.—£7 -15s to £8 per ton. Partridge peas.—Seed 7s 6d per bushel. Potatoes, Prime Hutt, 9s per cwt; others 6s per cwt. Cabbage.—Choice 10s 6d per sack; medium 6s 6d per sack. Cauliflower.—lßs per sack. Carrots.—Best, 9s per sack. Onions.—Local, 8s per ton. Turnips.—White, 6d per bunch. Lettuce.—Choice, 2s 6d to 5s per case. French Beans.—ss per bag. Beetroot. Per sack 8s 6d; per 1 bunch Is. Spring Onions.—Bd per bundle. Green Peas.—2s to 2s 6d per peck. Parsnips.—9s per sack.
