The Union S.S. Co. is reducing its coastal services consequent on the trouble in the coalmining industry. A Press Association message states that Mr Cleary, secretary of the Christchurch Coal Merchant' Association, gave it as hie opinion to-day that unless the position with regard to coal supplies shows some improvement within a month every coal merchant in Christchurch will have to close his yard.
