Pearcs, of "Canterbury Poisoned Wheat Factory," quoted terms for supply of poisoned wheat and j oats. Nine settlers at Manakau petitioned the Council "to immediately cause the nuisance at Waikawa flaxmill to be abated, as it has become a serious scandal and is unfit for our cattle to drink, aiul further, it is the only water that some of us can get to wash our dairy utensils in." Mr E. S. Pees, Gladstone-road, asked that about seventy chains of metal--ling be done at the top end of .Glad-stone-road. Mr Jas Richardson, Shannon, ,wrote that as visitors to Shannon cemetery would not shut the gates he had decided to look them. Mr W. F. Fogden, Otaki, wiotc offering to help in repairing Cemetery Ror.d, Otaki, and to lend two draught heses. Mr A. J. Horn. Koputaroa, *Tcte asking that the 'drains by the roadside fronting bis property be cleaned out with as little delay as possible. G. Wilkenden, .contractor, applied for work in To Horo riding for a horse, team and man. Messrs Meldrun, McLean and Gascciigiie, (solicitors, Hunterville, wrote aking for rebate of rates on a farm property of Harold Hay, deceased, killed while on active service. The farm has been unoccupied since lotli . December, '1916. Messrs Kirk and Raplry. soliitors, Otaki, wrote asking that Paliiko road be taken over by the council. Four surfacemen employed by the council in Te Horo riding asked for a "reasonable increase in their wages" to meet the high cost of living. Ten other rond employees of the council asked for an increase in pay to lis per day. An extended' report of the meeting will bo published in our next issue.
