He received information that John Dorn, who recently escaped from prison at WelimgfcL.ii, was at largo on Hokio lie.;ell. Constable Greggan, in com-1-iany with his wife and child', strolled a';ng the leach apparently aimlessly, and playing with the child until he came alongside Dorn, who was armed with a gun and reviver. "When the constable came aginst Doru he, suddenly threw his arms around the escaped prisoner, threw him and handcuffed liim: Doru came quietly into town, aiid was lodged in Levin lock-up until the train .vas due to leave for Wellington. tDora confided to his captor that the weapons were loaded when he went on the beach, but on seeing a man and a woman and childi approaching he withdrew the charges in case the child or woman might he injured. "When Constable Greggan threw Dorn, Dorn said "All right; I'll give in! I walked into a fine trap, didn't I ?'
