TOur correspondents' opinions aro their own; tlie responsibility of editorial ones makes sufficient ballast, for the editor's shoulders). HALLS AND VENTILATION". (To the Editor). Sir,—Present clay showmen's notions about ventilation seem strangely on a par with those of daddy long-leg bottlers and biologists. First catch your bugs, then place them in a Jbottle and cork up tight! N'onc of the Levin halls have a superabundance of openings, but the more recently erected are the worst from this point of view. In last Thursday's large meeting the stuffiness and poison gases were so overpowering that some persons ventured to open the side door. But others thus exposed to a cold draught promptly! closed it again. Neither , those that opened or those that shut tile door are to blame. The blame rests with the management, 'but still more so with the town council, for allowing public halls to be erected without enforcing ample ventilation (up high in the right place) to meet the requirements of the public health —a thing which, even now, ought to be seen to at once.—l am, etc., H. LE'GEE, •"Weraroa, Levin, March 30, 1917.
